The Players:
I am bone tired.
As you may remember, this was my super busy weekend. I drove up to New Hampshire on Friday afternoon, which took me five hours instead of the normal two thanks to the Yankee/Red Sox game. We had an ice cream sundae party, which was a request that C had made in one of his letters. Julie and Mike (the parents) and I played scrabble and had beverages into the late evening.
Saturday morning the boys let me sleep until 7am! We had breakfast, went to the dollar store to get supplies for chore charts, and went to the library to get M his very own library card. We picked up ten books so that he could read a book a day to get ready for school. When we got back to the house I made the chore charts, their friend from next door came over to play, and we went to the beach.
This weekend was S's and L's joint birthday party. I hadn't seen them in two years (long story) but they are growing up to be wonderful kids, thanks in large part to their father and his new wife (who they really seem to love). S loves to read so I gave him some books and writing stuff. L is getting into nail polish and dressing up so I gave her a journal, a necklace, and some other girly things. I had a great time seeing them and have been invited back for dinner, maybe next month.
Went out for Chinese food for dinner, the kids got stickers on their chore charts, then more scrabble and Captian Morgan. I drove down to see the folks Sunday morning and stashed the car seats in their shed. I have so much more room now! Pictures are coming.
Monday morning I was up at 4:30am, took a shower, and drove the two hours to Worcester Mass to meet a friend for breakfast. Victoria and I were friends almost ten years ago during my first bought with college. I haven't seen her since then, though we have emailed, and it was awesome to catch up. The best thing? Very little of our conversation was about college. So many times you see people from school or work and that's all that you have to talk about. We met up at the Boulevard Diner on Shrewsbury street in Worcester. If you're in the area, stop by: good food and pretty decent prices. Many years ago there was a company based in Worcester that built diners, so there are a ton of them around the city.
Today I'm back at work, on my fourth cup of coffee, and trying not to nod off. I need a vacation after my vacation, but I had a great time.
